ABOUT US

Spoiled-Rotten Pets is owned and operated by Linn Cipperley-Price.  Linn is a licensed veterinary technician with over a decade of experience in pet related fields.

She started as a pet department manager at a large department store in Mason City, Iowa, while working towards an associates degree.  From there, she joined the Army and served in the Veterinary Corps as a Veterinary Care Specialist.  Caring for animals at the stray facility on post & vaccinating privately owned animals belonging to soldiers at the Army's Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF).  Linn also oversaw the care of the Military Working Dogs and the horses owned by the recreation department on post.

After leaving the service, Linn started Spoiled-Rotten Pets (SRP) out of her apartment in Salinas, California.  At that time, she attended dog and cat shows selling pet vitamins and treats.

Linn then moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she worked for Arctic Animal Hospital.  The clinic was very special because it was also the Bird Treatment and Learning Center.  Linn worked on exotic wildlife like bald eagles, arctic terns and occasional orphaned moose babies.  The clinic had the privilege of hosting the Discovery Channel and Good Morning America.

Linn reluctantly left her full-time position at Arctic Animal Hospital full-time to work on Fort Richardson, the Army post near Anchorage.  While working at Fort Richardson's veterinary clinic Linn continued working part time at Arctic Animal Hospital.  She earned the title of Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) while in Alaska, and was licensed as a lay vaccinator.  (Because of the scarce population of veterinarians in remote areas, veterinary lay vaccinators are trained to vaccinate against rabies in domestic animals).  While working at the Army's VTF on Ft Richardson she developed an adoption program for the stray facility resulting in a 100% adoption rate of adoptable pets (pets without poor temperament or sever health problems).  This was done with the help of client education on proper training of domesticated pets.  Thus, relieving the problem with the pet prior to the owner wanting to surrender the pet to the shelter.

During her stay in Alaska Linn continued to sell pet vitamins and treats as Spoiled-Rotten Pets, but, she saw another need for pet owners.  Linn used her home computer to help find lost animals.  By scanning photos and mailing posters to pet related business throughout the Anchorage bowl for placements on bulletin boards, in addition to placing ads in local papers, she was able to help many pet owners reunite with their lost pets.

Eventually, Linn moved back to her native Iowa.  She continued her education by attending classes at Iowa State University.  In May of 2001 Linn received her Bachelors of Science in Biology.  It was on this move that Linn started boarding animals, in addition to selling pet supplies and conducting training.  Many clients stated that large breed grooming was needed in the area, so Linn once again accommodated the needs of the pet owners in the area and is offering grooming services.

Linn volunteers for the American Red Cross.  She is an instructor for Community First Aid & Safety (first aid & CPR).  Because of her unique background, as a CPR instructor and being a LVT, the local Red Cross Chapter asked for her help in training instructors for the New Pet CPR & First Aid class being offered at the Ames, Iowa Chapter.  In addition to the Red Cross, Linn volunteers for local humane societies.

Linn prides herself on keeping current with pet food trends.  None of the foods or treats at SRP contain artificial preservatives.  Only natural preservatives rich in goodness like vitamin C & E and rosemary extract / citric acid are used in the brands she choose to carry.  This isn't a new thing, but she has been doing this since she started!   She has earned the title of Veterinary Clinical Nutritionalist and Small Animal Dietician by participating in courses educating Veterinary Technicians on nutrition.

Linn attends conferences yearly keeping her current on issues in the veterinary world and the pet industry.  While your pet is here at SRP be assured that they are in good hands, with a person like Linn dedicated to the whole well being of your pet.
